My Story
Snacks is a 10 year old malti-poo type mix, neutered male. Snacks came in to rescue sickly, bedraggled, and unhappy. He has had a lot of vetting updated that his previous owners should have done for him years ago. We will try not to dwell on his past because he has such a bright future ahead of him.
He had a retained testicle that was never removed, so we had him neutered, which fixed that issue. They can become cancerous if left late in life, and we couldn’t let that happen to him. Snacks had full labwork run, and 3 things were found to be slightly abnormal. The first is very minor elevated liver enzymes, which our vet said is not a concern at this time and doesn’t require treatment. The second is a low urine concentration, but normal kidney values on bloodwork, so we are increasing moisture in his diet and treating him for a low-grade UTI. The third is that his T4 (thyroid) level is low. Snacks get a tiny inexpensive thyroid pill one time each day, and it has made a BIG difference for him. He feels great now!
Snacks is the type of dog that will need professional grooming with routine brushing in between visits. He had many teeth removed due to severe dental disease, so his oral health should be evaluated annually with your routine vet visits. He is on monthly parasite prevention and that shoukd be life-long as well to prevent unwanted internal and external parasites
Dogs, cats, and strangers are no threat to Snacks because he loves everyone. He loves to go for walks, car rides, and vet visits too.
