My Story

During her time in foster care Maddie has learned that all she needs to calm down is a nice walk. She continues to blossom into a great family dog.  She’s 100% housebroken –She’s absolutely up for anything and will be your partner for a long walk, a hike in the woods, a swim in the lake.
There is no limits to what Maddie can do or what she will become as she grows. Will she be your running partner?  That will be up to her new person. She has a great recall and is learning to be trustworthy off-leash.  She settles down quickly after a good walk.
She’s also a retriever so she’ll bring back anything you throw, whether it’s a stick in the lake or a pair of dirty socks in the laundry basket!  Investing in a “Chuck- it” is a good idea with Maddie, she can play ball forever.
She’s also super smart and can solve most doggie puzzles in no time flat.  We bought one that had 12 compartments.  She figured out 11 of them before our dog Toby could open the first one!  She’s sweet and funny and, after warming, has gotten used to the family life and is my little tan shadow.  She loves our son and is the first one up the stairs to hop into bed with him at bedtime.  She’s good with other dogs, although sometimes she’s a little overzealous when greeting them, so we are still working on that.
She is good with dog savvy cats.  She goes into her crate at night willingly and will sleep through the night without issues.  She uses her crate when left alone for a short time, but prefers to be with her people, she would do best in a home where someone was home with her for at least part of the day.

Maddie shows signs of being an amazing dock diving dog, with a willing person and some knowledgeable training she could take home the championship!

Rescue is more than a verb. It’s a promise. Dogs come with a variety of needs – some behavioral, some emotional, some medical. When approved applicants rescue these dogs by adopting them, they take on whatever comes with the dog. This is what it means to rescue.
