My Story
Malia is a 40lb, 5 year old, Collie mix rescued from KY after being picked up as a stray. She arrived in NY in May, in pretty poor condition. Malia was emaciated and her coat was matted. It turns out that Malia had a surprise for us. In late June, Malia gave birth to seven healthy puppies. Malia did a great job caring for her puppies for the first few weeks but then she lost interest. She would jump baby gates and x-pens to get away from the puppies. So Malia has been relaxing and gaining weight over the past few weeks and now she is ready to find her forever home. She is okay with other calm dogs but she doesn’t want new dogs in her face. Since she was starving while roaming the streets of KY, she can be protective of her food around other dogs. She is fed in her crate to avoid any issues.
Malia is a calm, laidback dog. She is house trained and crate trained. She is also great on leash and in the car. Malia has not been exposed to cats while in our care but she does not show any interest in chickens.
Malia will be spayed within the next few weeks.
