My Story

Meet  Sumo! This dapper orange and white boy comes in at just over 2 years old and loves to be around his favorite person! He craves attention and is becoming quite the little love bug. He also enjoys the company of other cats and plays nicely with them. He has quickly captured our hearts at Ten Lives, and we can’t wait for his next adventure.
Sumo is still learning the ins and outs of indoor cat life, and he’s adjusting wonderfully. He adores attention but just needs a little time to get comfortable. Once he understands that your intentions are loving, he will eagerly climb into your lap for pets. His playful side is emerging, and he enjoys exploring toys.  Sumo is very vocal and will sing the song of his people until he can see you again. With a bit of patience and a lot of love, Sumo will be an incredibly affectionate and loyal companion.
Sumo is an FIV+ kitty, but he is happy, healthy, and ready to read all of his adoption applications, available below!

Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a cat-specific virus that cannot be passed onto dogs or humans. FIV is spread through deep bite wounds, typically seen on outdoor male cats who have not been neutered. It’s rarely spread through grooming, sharing bowls, or litter boxes. FIV affects a cat’s immune system, but most cats live long lives when they live indoors, receive routine veterinary care, have a stress-free home, and a good diet.To learn more about FIV, please visit the link below.

About Ten Lives:
Ten Lives Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization located in Rhode Island. Our foster-based program is 100% volunteer-powered.We do not have a facility or shelter with regular visiting hours. Out of respect for the time, privacy, and safety of our foster families, we require an approved adoption application before scheduling a meet and greet with a foster cat.
Our goal is to place cats in their best-matched homes and facilitate lifelong adoptions. We do not review applications on a first-come, first-serve basis. We believe that veterinary care is an important part of cat guardianship. As such, a veterinary check is part of our adoption process. Our goal is to contact applicants within 96 business hours of receiving their application. During kitten season, wait times may be longer due to the influx of applications. We are all volunteers and kindly ask for your patience!
All Ten Lives cats are spayed or neutered, receive age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLv and parasites, dewormed, treated for fleas, and microchipped. These services are inclusive of the adoption fee.
